Easytech developed the system used by the Buenos Aires Government to process all requests for the drivers license in Argentina's capital. Together with our partner at Idefoto, we implemented the system which processes between 1200 and 1500 drivers licenses daily. The system became productive in April 2006 substituting the previous system which was online for ten years. The new system incorporates digital scanner for photo, signature and fingerprint as well as a new and redesigned drivers license with many security features.
The system was developed combining several open source technologies so as to give the Government of Buenos Aires an open platform which is simpler and cheaper to maintain. Almost 90% of the code is written in PHP with a framework which keeps model, controller and view well separated. The generation of the drivers license uses the Jasper Report engine in Java while the digitalization system uses a small Visual Basic application which saves the captured data on the server. All servers run on a Fedora Core Linux operating system. The printing infrastructure uses CUPS and the database engine uses PostgreSQL.
Some of the key features of the application are:

The application is very easy to use and the operator can validate the identity of the person who he is helping.

In each step of the process, the user incorporates all medical, legal and other relevant data into the system so that it is saved digitally for future reference.
Technology stack: Linux, PHP, Java, PostgreSQL, Apache HTTP, Apache Tomcat, CUPS, VB.
